English singer Dua Lipa’s encounter with Ukrainian football legend Shevchenko

Head coach of Ukraine National football team Andriy Shevchenko was the ambassador of the Champions League Kiev final in 2018. The British pop star Dua Lipa was waiting for pre-match performance to start ahead of the Real Madrid-Liverpool final. Dua Lipa encountered with arguably Ukraine’s best ever player Shevchenko on the sidelines, but she didn’t recognize him.

Shevchenko has been the coach of the Ukraine national football team since 2016. Born in 1976, Shevchenko won 5 Ukrainian League titles in Dynamo Kiev. In 1999, he was transferred to Milan, where he won the Champions League cup and the Super Cup. He received the European Footballer of the Year award in 2004. He transferred to Chelsea in 2006. He returned to his former club Dynamo Kiev in 2009 and announced that he was quitting football for politics in 2012.


Albanian-born British singer Dua Lipa won her first Grammy Awards in 2019 in the categories of ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Dance Song’ with her song ‘Electricity’. The 25-year-old Lipa received the ‘Best Vocal Pop Album’ Award at the Grammys in 2021 with her album ‘Future Nostalgia’.
